Sebastian Jessen: From Solar Panels to Smart Battery System

Danish actor Sebastian Jessen has taken another step into the green transition. In his home in Copenhagen, he has just had an Emaldo® battery system installed – and he explains why it turned out to be a much better investment than he first thought.

Green Transition in Practice
Sebastian has long focused on sustainable choices. He drives an electric car, has solar panels on the roof – and when the old gas boiler in the house broke down, the decision was clear: A heat pump would take care of the heating from then on.
“It makes sense for me to invest in green solutions when I’m already facing a replacement,” he says. “It’s both about the climate and about future-proofing our home.”

The Electricity Bill as an Eye-Opener
Even though green solutions save CO₂, the electricity bill can still be a challenge.
“We have quite a hefty electricity bill at home,” Sebastian admits. A family with both a heat pump and an electric car can easily end up with an annual electricity bill of 35,000–40,000 DKK.

With the Emaldo® battery system, the solar panels’ energy is stored during the day so the family can use it exactly when they need it most: when they come home, cook dinner, and switch on the lights and TV. This has led to significant savings on the electricity bill.

The Hidden Benefit
But what impresses Sebastian the most is the financial bonus of letting the system support the local power grid. The battery can automatically absorb surplus electricity when needed and release energy when the grid calls for it.
“I now receive fixed monthly payments from Emaldo® for making the battery available. Right now, it’s around 1,500 DKK,” he explains.

“I was honestly a bit doubtful whether it would pay off, but I was completely wrong.”

Inspiration for Others
Sebastian Jessen is not alone in his green journey. More and more Danes are choosing solar panels, heat pumps, and battery systems to reduce their climate footprint – and to make their household economy a little greener at the same time.

“It feels good to contribute to the transition, but also to experience that it actually pays off,” he says with a smile.
