Meet Aaron Slebos, Emaldo's resident Kiwi 🇳🇿

Passionate about all things technology and energy, he joined us this year as Product Director, and is currently focused on our C&I solutions and user experience.

Background – What Led Me to Emaldo

I have over 20 years of experience in the energy industry. I started as an energy trader in New Zealand, where I'm originally from, managing a portfolio of over 2.5GW of generation assets—from hydro to thermal. That gave me a deep understanding of how energy markets work at both a technical and financial level.

I then moved into Product Management in the UK, spending 12 years with a global utilities software provider. I learned how to deliver value around complex energy propositions—and how hard it is to get right.

Along the way, I worked with early-stage virtual power plant startups in Australia and experienced first-hand the challenges of selling and scaling battery and solar products.

The stars aligned and led me to Emaldo, where my energy and product background come together in service of the energy transition.

My Role & What Excites Me

I'm a Product Director within Product Development, focused on improving the experience for both end customers and our network of install partners.

What excites me is the incremental progress. Getting technology adopted at scale is like building a ladder to the moon—you do it one rung at a time. Each improvement, each barrier removed, gets us closer to real impact.

Why I Joined & What I Value Most

I love the technology—especially the software side. But what really drew me here is the challenge of simplification. It's easy to make things complicated; the hard part is making complex energy products easy to understand. That's what drives mass adoption, and that's where I want to spend my time.

Current Projects & Goals

Right now my plate is pretty full supporting key initiatives like:

  • Running user research to support improving our user experience
  • Launching our new range of larger batteries for the commercial and industrial market in Europe
  • Enhancing our Grid Rewards programme

Fun Fact

My dream destination is Japan. I was due to move there to teach English, but I met my wife a few weeks before leaving—and I never made it. It's still top of my travel list
