  • The collaboration combines KKI’s capital and commercial expertise with Emaldo’s proven technology and traction to support the BESS rollout across a number of markets

  • The partners are eyeing an initial pipeline 500 sites across C&I locations, including supermarkets, logistics depots and petrol stations

  • With the first installation due to take place in late 2026, the partnership aims to remove financial, technical and logistical barriers businesses face in getting BESS projects off the ground

ØLSTYKKE, Denmark - 20 October 2026 - The Nordic smart energy solutions provider, Emaldo, has entered into a strategic partnership with Germany-headquartered clean energy investment firm Konflux Kapital International GmbH (KKI), aiming to advance battery energy storage system (BESS) capacity across commercial and industrial (C&I) sites across a number of European markets.

As Europe electrifies and adds more wind and solar, the need for flexibility in the energy system is growing, and battery storage is increasingly central to meeting it. The EU installed 27.1 GWh of battery storage in the last year, up 45% compared to the 12 months prior, bringing its total fleet to 77.3 GWh, but SolarPower Europe estimates it will need around 750 GWh by the end of the decade to meet its flexibility needs.

C&I businesses have a significant role to play in the build-out. Storage can reduce their own energy costs, increase resilience and help balance the grid, however many face challenges in the form of financing, technical complexity, grid approvals and local legislation. To enable more C&I businesses to participate in the BESS transition, Emaldo and KKI are initially exploring a pipeline of up to 500 C&I BESS sites across Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Romania, the Nordics and the Baltics.

Locations will include supermarkets, logistics depots, and petrol stations and configurations will include standalone BESS, batteries combined with solar PV, and EV charging supported by battery storage. Typical C&I sites are likely to range from 0.5 MWh to 50 MWh in battery storage capacity, while large standalone sites could see up to 100 MWh installed. The first installation is expected to take place in the Nordics before the end of 2026.

The partnership combines KKI’s capital and commercial experience managing energy storage projects across borders with Emaldo’s local presence, deep technical knowledge, including its Emaldo One Business range, and commercial traction of more than 12,000 installations in the Nordics.

Alasdair Firth, Emaldo’s Chief Product Officer, said: “Our focus is on making battery storage easy to understand, with detailed, practical business cases to enable more companies to confidently deploy this technology. Emaldo One Business brings the technology together in an end-to-end solution, and working with KKI helps us address the commercial and delivery challenges that can keep projects from progressing. As energy systems evolve, battery storage will play an important role in making them more flexible and resilient.”

Andy He, CEO of KKI, said: “Many businesses see the potential of battery storage, but we want to help make projects a reality. We share with Emaldo an ambition to develop scalable, commercially viable storage projects that support greater flexibility and efficiency in regional energy markets, and that’s what we intend to do in Europe.”
